The best time to visit Agra is during the winter months, from October to March, when the weather is pleasant with temperatures ranging from 10-30°C (50-86°F). This period offers comfortable conditions for sightseeing. Avoid the summer months (April-June) when temperatures can soar above 40°C (104°F) and the monsoon season (July-September) which brings heavy rainfall.
For a comprehensive Agra experience, 2-3 days are ideal. This allows you to visit the Taj Mahal (preferably at sunrise), Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, and other attractions without rushing. If you're only interested in seeing the Taj Mahal, a day trip is possible, especially from Delhi, but you'll miss many other significant sights.
The fastest and most comfortable way is by train. The Gatimaan Express (fastest train in India) takes only 100 minutes from Delhi to Agra. Other options include driving by car (3-4 hours depending on traffic) or taking a bus. There are also organized day tours from Delhi that include transportation.
Yes, the Taj Mahal has different entry fees for Indian and foreign tourists. Foreign tourists pay around ₹1,100 (approximately $15), while Indian citizens pay ₹50. Other monuments like Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri also have entry fees. Many of our packages include these entry fees, but please check the specific inclusions.
When visiting religious sites in and around Agra (like temples in Mathura and Vrindavan), it's respectful to dress modestly. Both men and women should cover their shoulders and knees. Women may need to cover their heads in some places. Comfortable footwear is recommended as you'll need to remove shoes before entering temples and at the Taj Mahal's main mausoleum.
